| Mel conquers the Jurassic Coast |
| |
Most people who complete Dorset's coastal path on foot take several days to walk it.
But a challenge for the super-fit (and the brave) is to cover the 78.6 miles from Lyme Regis to South Haven Point in less than 24 hours.
Mel Varvel took up the challenge, after many months of preparation. It's a gruelling hilly course with a marathon a day over 3 days.
Mel was never headed in the womens category finishing in 1st place on each day.
Day 1 4 hrs 26 mins 36.1
Day 2 4:39:48.8
Day 3 5:03:49.3
Total time 14:11:15.3
A fantastic effort made all the more pleasing as Mel beat most of the men coming home in 7th overall place.
There's little rest for Mel as she has to recover ready for the Emberton Duathlon World qualifier on the 11th April.
