Update

You could be forgiven for thinking that it has been quiet at Fletcher Sport Science since March as we haven't had time to post any news.

Well it's been far from quite so an update:

Mel Varvel followed up her Iroman in NZ by returning to the UK and promptly taking her age group National Duathlon title gaining an automatic place at the ETU Duathlon Champs in Budapest and the ITU Champs in Concord, USA! .

This was closely followed by Mel retaining her Beaulieu Half Ironman title. Mel is now preparing for the the more sedate Olympic triathlon races later in the season!

In the same National Duathlon Championships Marc Scrivens raced to an excellent 5th place.

Nik Fleming has been busy breaking a number of age grop British and World Indoor Rowing records over 5000 m, 10000 m, 30 minutes and half marathon. Nik is now having a well deserved summer break.

Ant Wilson has made a welcome return to triathlon training and as preparation for the European age group triathlon qualifer in Bedford on 19th July came 5th in the Emergency Service Sprint Triathlon and won a small local 10k run.

In similar vein James Fletcher is back in training after an 18 month lay off. He is also preparing for the European age group triathlon qualifer and as preparation came 7th in the Eton Sprint Triathlon and 75th (out of 3500) in the Blenheim Sprint Triathlon and won a small local 5k in his local forest!.

Good to have them both back!

Peter Daniel of Cheltenham has just set new over 70s half marathon and full marathon indoor rowing records using Eddie Fletcher's indoor rowing marathon plan (available in the Indoor Rowing articles section).

The Xalps athletes have been preparing for their forthcoming gruelling race which starts on the 19th July - visit www.redbullxalps.com for full details and follow the athletes blog at http://suuntoatxalps.blogspot.com

Preparations are now well in hand for the Evesham Golden Mile - as usual a bumper entry and many hotly contested races are expected. Delighted to see that at 98 years young John Hodgson is back rowing and expected to set a new record over the mile for the 90-99 age group!
