Fleming sets new Championship, British and World Record
 
Nik Fleming rowed himself into the record books in stunning style at the British Indoor Rowing Championship at the weekend. In doing so he became the first Britain over 40 years of age to row below 6 minutes for 2000 m.

He reduced the existing WR by 0.3 of a second to 5:57.5 but in doing so demolished the existing Championship and British records.

There was also gold for Graham Benton who retained his Open Championship for the 5th year in a row with another demonstration of elite rowing to record 5:46.1.

It was a double for Fletcher Sport Science in the Open hwt category. In the ladies race Jo Lyons rowed a perfect race to pull 6 seconds clear of silver to win in a time of 7:01.0.

Rachel Armstrong in the 35-39 hwt category finally deservedly won her first British gold after silver in 2007 and bronze in 2006. She rowed an evenly paced race to finish in 7:22.4 nearly 4 seconds ahead of the silver medal rower.

Not too be outdone Rachel's daughter Robyn stunned her opposition in the J12 2minute race to record a new British record of 554 metres for her first British gold medal. Quite stunning power for a youngster!

James Davis of Colmers School moving up an age group to J14 (he holds the J13 record) found himslef in a fantastic struggle rowing down the opposition to win gold with a distance of 1180 m.

Anna Bailey continued her return to form to win her 8th consecutive British title in 7:31.9 some 36 seconds ahead of the silver medal position - Anna continues to be the class act of the 50s hwt division!

Brian Bailey continues his dominance of the 60-64 lwt category winning gold in 6:51.8

Megan Brown continued her run of medalling with a well earned bronze medal in 7:30.0

There were PBs for Dona Hall 8:06.4 in 7th place in the 45-49 hwt, Keith Hiley 6:53.4 in 5th place in the 50-54 lwt, Rich Hall 7:14.8 in 55th place in the 40-44 hwt and Ruth Whyman 7:25.8 in the J18 hwt.
