By pure luck, I was introduced to Eddie Fletcher on my 50th birthday by a mutual friend, who knew I was looking for a coach. I had been indoor rowing less than a year and was ready to progress.
Ed’s scientific approach to training appealed to me, and under his guidance I moved to a targeted programme, and the partnership has been highly successful. Within a year of adopting his methods, we (I can’t say “I”!) achieved the World Record for the 2000m race distance for my age group, and took gold at the World Championships.
Since then we have taken and retained all records possible: 500m, 1000m, mile (1609m), 2000m, 2500m, 5000m, 6000m, 10000m, half marathon, marathon, 1 minute, 30 minutes and 60 minutes. We still plan to improve as many of these as possible!
I can not think of anyone else whom I would trust as implicitly as Ed where knowledge of this sport and the equipment is concerned. He is very highly thought of by everyone in Indoor Rowing, and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been “in on the ground floor” and am proud to be his first specialist indoor rowing athlete.
